Prof. M.M. Agrawal

Prof. M.M. Agrawal Ji, former Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha, was an exceptional Parliamentarian, philanthropist, and educator. He was also an economist, journalist, author, industrialist, statesman, patriot, and dedicated social worker.

Professor Sahib dedicated his life to providing humanity and dignity to the weaker sections of society. His work, principles, and ideals focused on the upliftment and welfare of the downtrodden, promoting India’s unity and integrity, and maintaining communal harmony. These contributions will be remembered forever. Born on April 21, 1934, in Chandausi, District Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, he completed his M.A. and M.Com. from DAV College, Kanpur, and later obtained his Law Degree from Kanpur University, Kanpur.
In his early days, he was the President and General Secretary of DAV Higher Education Institute, Kanpur having about 24 Mahavidayalaya and Schools functioning under the control of the institution. Apart from the above, he was also instrumental in setting up hundreds of Middle and Higher Secondary Schools.
Prof. M.M. Agrawal Ji was nominated as the Executive Director of Associated Journals Limited Institute, established by Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru. He published leading newspapers such as National Herald, Qaumi Awaz, and Navjeevan. Adding to his accolades, he was nominated as Executive Chairman of the World Federation of United Nations, Geneva. He also chaired the Human Rights Commission in Ottawa (Canada), Russia, Mongolia, and various other countries. Additionally, he was associated with ‘Madhya-The Mid Age’, the Journal of Association for Health, serving as its patron and Chief Editorial Advisor.
Later, he was elected to the Rajya Sabha from Uttar Pradesh in April 2000. During his tenure as a Member of Parliament, he addressed numerous issues at the local, regional, and national levels. He served as the Convener and Member of the Consultative Committee for the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, a Member of the Consultative Committee for Petroleum & Natural Gas, the Convener and Member of the Parliamentarian Committee for the Ministry of Small Scale Industries, and a Member of the Parliamentarian Committee for Banking and Finance.
During his lifetime he wrote a book entitled “Small Scale Industries in India-Today and Tomorrow”, heralding a new era for small industries.

He established Superior Group of Industries and set up the following plants:

And started Manufacturing, Selling & Distribution of various Parle Brands Viz Thums Up, Gold Spot, Limca and Maaza etc. along with business of Alcoholic brands with Kingfisher brand beer.

During 1991 Parle Brands were acquired by Coca-Cola Atlanta and the group executed franchisee agreement with Coca-Cola and since then it has been continuously working in association with Coke having rights of manufacturing, selling & distribution of various international brands: Coke, Fanta, Thums Up, Limca, Sprite, Maaza, Kinley Water etc.
He had two sons, Mr. Sanjeev Agrawal and Mr. Pradeep Agrawal; the group has split into two different entities – Moon Beverages and Superior Group of Industries. Moon was handed over to his elder son, Mr. Sanjeev Agrawal, and SGI, the legacy group, came under the control of Mr. Pradeep Agrawal.
